What a day for the Watford Wizards at the Regional Goalball Tournament in Cambridge!
Gold medal winners 🥇, Player of the Day (Daniel), and Top Goal Scorer (Jacob) — an absolutely incredible performance from the whole team!
Just one year ago, we finished bottom of the table at this same competition. This weekend showed just how far hard work, dedication, and team spirit can take you. 💪
Here’s how the day unfolded 👇
🧱 Game 1 – London Elephants vs Watford Wizards (4–2)
Abi started strong in centre with Daniel and Jacob on wings. Great communication and solid defending kept the first half tight, and Jacob levelled the score just before half time.
Finn came on for his very first game in the second half and slotted in brilliantly. After conceding early, the team came back fighting with three more goals to take the win 4–2. Fantastic accuracy and power all round! ⚡️
⚔️ Game 2 – Chelmsford vs Watford Wizards (6–6)
What a thriller! End-to-end play right to the final whistle. Finn netted his first 3 goals for the team, Jacob added 2, and Daniel scored 1.
A tough match that showed just how much this squad has grown in confidence and teamwork. 👏
🎯 Game 3 – Cambridge Gown vs Watford Wizards (3–1)
Tight defence and precise shooting won the day here. Despite a close time-penalty goal against us, the Wizards shut down every other attack and hit back with clinical finishing for a 3–1 victory.
🔥 Game 4 – Cambridge Town vs Watford Wizards (7–1)
What. A. Match! Total dominance from start to finish — brilliant passing, adaptability, and unstoppable teamwork leading to a 7–1 win.
A fantastic way to end the tournament and claim GOLD! 🥇
This result is about more than medals. It’s about what happens when determination, teamwork, and belief come together. The Wizards have shown what’s possible when you keep turning up, keep improving, and keep believing.
