Helping Blind and Visually Impaired People Access Sport

At Watford Goalball Club, we believe that sport should be accessible to everyone.

Goalball is a unique Paralympic team sport designed specifically for blind and visually impaired people. Our club provides opportunities for children, young people and adults to take part in regular training, competition and social activity within a welcoming and supportive environment.

As a volunteer-led club, the support we receive from sponsors, funders and community organisations plays a vital role in helping us continue to grow and provide opportunities for visually impaired people across Watford, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

Through this support, we are able to:

  • Deliver regular training sessions throughout the year

  • Keep participation affordable for players

  • Support junior and youth development

  • Attend regional and national competitions

  • Purchase and maintain specialist equipment

  • Improve awareness of disability sport locally

  • Create opportunities for people to build confidence, friendships and independence through sport

Why Sponsorship Matters

Running an accessible sports club comes with significant ongoing costs.

One of the club’s largest costs is sports hall hire, with regular training sessions requiring a suitable indoor venue with enough safe space for goalball courts. Additional costs include competition entry fees, specialist tape for tactile court markings, equipment, volunteer expenses, website costs and safeguarding requirements.

Support from sponsors and funding organisations directly helps us continue delivering opportunities for visually impaired players of all ages and abilities.

Every contribution — whether financial support, donated services, equipment, venue support or fundraising assistance — genuinely makes a difference to the club and our players.
